Families in Davidson’s McConnell neighborhood had a pumpkin carving day on Sunday to get ready for this weekend’s Halloween celebrations. Families contributing to the creativity include the Wagners, Stolles, Lakens, Kratts, Seebers and Spears.

Town fire rating improves; lower insurance rates ahead?

Davidson Fire Department’s fire protection rating within the town limits has improved, which could mean lower insurance premiums for some homes and businesses in town.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal regularly reviews local fire departments on a variety of factors, from the availability of hydrants and equipment to training and response times. The rating within the Davidson town limits improved from 6 to 5, on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is the best.

Falling leaves are usually a sign to pull out rakes and leaf blowers. This autumn, Davidson residents can add bags to their supply lists as they get ready to dispose of those leaves. Leaves now must be bagged if they’re left curbside, though town officials are also pushing some environmentally-friendly options as well.

Police check lead in Mon. burglaries; cable equipment stolen

Updated 10:07 a.m.Davidson Police are seeking information about a red truck parked in the driveway of one of several homes hit in during series of daytime burglaries Monday in the McConnell and Hudson Place neighborhoods. Nearly $20,000 in electronics and jewelry was taken. Meanwhile, police also are investigating the theft of $6,000 in cable networking equipment from a Time Warner Cable outdoor box on Summers Walk Boulevard early Saturday. 3 burglaries reported in McConnell, Hudson Place

Davidson police are investigating at least three reports of daytime burglaries on Monday at homes in neighborhoods off Concord Road. Two homes were on Ashby Drive in the McConnell neighborhood and one on Hudson Place.
