Two men suspected in separate break-ins at South Main Street businesses last fall and this spring have been sentenced to jail time after pleading guilty. Meanwhile, Davidson police and the Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal’s office are continuing to investigate minor fires in Davidson Landing last week. Not too much to worry about this week, but be careful out there, people, especially when circling the roundabouts – last week’s accident reports below included another minor traffic-circle collision on Griffith Street. Also below, traffic enforcement reports for the past 2 weeks.

Davidson Fire Department’s fire protection rating within the town limits has improved, which could mean lower insurance premiums for some homes and businesses in town.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal regularly reviews local fire departments on a variety of factors, from the availability of hydrants and equipment to training and response times. The rating within the Davidson town limits improved from 6 to 5, on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is the best.

Kim Fleming, new Downtown Director

Davidson officials have replaced Downtown Director Sandy Lemons with an interim manager in an unexpected shuffle at Town Hall. Kim Fleming, who has been serving as co-chair of fund-raising for the Davidson Library Task Force, will take over the job Thursday, Oct. 21, the town said in a press release.
No reasons were given for the change, in which Ms. Lemons “ended her tenure with the town by mutual agreement” last Friday, Oct. 15, according to town officials. Read the full story

The Davidson police and the Mecklenburg County fire marshal are investigating a series of small fires that were intentionally set Wednesday near homes at Davidson Landing, on Lake Norman and off I-77 Exit 30. Investigators are seeking help finding a woman who was seen near the locations of the fires that day.

Downtown Davidson Inc., the association of local merchants, will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, Oct. 14, to elect officers and meet with Davidson’s Mayor and Town Board. Also below, Sanctuary of Davidson on Main Street has expanded its space and begun offering classes and parties. Former Davidson town planner Parviz Moosavi has opened a private planning consultancy. Ingersoll Rand has named a new general counsel, and he’ll be relocating to the company’s Davidson offices. And we have a couple of new business notes.
