Ken Randall of Davidson captured this stunning image of the moon overnight last night. You probably can’t do this at home: The photo was taken with a telescope. (Ken Randall photo)
Thanks to Ken Randall for sharing this amazing photo of the moon from Sunday night, May 4. Ken reports that he had a pretty simple setup to get the shot: A Classic 5-inch Refracting Telescope, with eyepiece projection using an iPhone5.

The Davidson College Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Band kicked off the 2014 Concerts on the Green series Sunday night with a 2-hour performance in front of the Davidson public library branch.
Tara Villa Keith led the orchestra in the first half of the program, with a set of film music favorites. Jazz band leader Bill Lawing led his ensemble in the second half.
The 2014 Concerts on the Green continue this Sunday, May 4, with Rough Draft.
The two Davidson groups will be back for the season-ending Concert on the Green on Sept. 21. They’re also both playing free concerts on campus this week. The Jazz Ensemble performs Tuesday night at 7:30 at Tyler-Tallman Hall on campus, while the Davidson Symphony Orchestra is back with a free performance Thursday at Duke Family Performance Hall.
