Hundreds of food truck fans lined up on a chilly evening in downtown Davidson Wednesday in food truck rally and Summit Coffee community pint night that raised money for Davidson Lands Conservancy.

Food trucks included Comfort Food on Wheels, Cheese to the Mac, Cuzzo’s Cuisine, The Plated Palette, and Ruthies. They parked in the Jackson Street Parking lot behind Summit.  The cafe donated a portion of the evening’s sales to the Conservancy.

Davidson-based singer songwriter Rusty Knox provided the tunes, from a stage behind Summit.

Every autumn, Davidson resident and automotive writer Tom Cotter hosts a giant car party on his front lawn and in his Westmoreland Farms neighborhood, off Davidson-Concord Road. This year’s 16th Woody Party seemed to be bigger than ever, with everything from century-old antiques to race cars to restorations. Read the full story

Workers pulled the old glass storefront off 131 N. Main St. this week, so they could re-frame and re-glaze it for the new Kindred Restaurant. Owners Joe and Katy Kindred are planning to open their new “chef-driven” restaurant this winter, after a major renovation of the old building.  Read the full story

Hundreds of children across the area got out of their cars and buses Wednesday and biked or walked to school during the annual International Walk to School Day. Some Davidsonians were up early Wednesday to catch a glimpse of a total lunar eclipse. We watched it from a dock at Portside, in Davidson Landing. Alas, clouds rolled in about 6:20am, offering only a couple of more peeks at the covered moon. The best views came at the start of the eclipse around 6am. By full eclipse, at 6:55am, it was obscured by the clouds. Read the full story

The Pumpkin Patch for Missions offers pumpkins, gourds and other fall decorations through Nov. 4 at Davidson United Methodist Church’s McKay Youth House, 260 S. Main St., Davidson. The Youth Ministries of the church hosts the annual pumpkin sale to benefit youth mission trips and activities. It’s open weekdays 11am to 7pm, and weekends 10am to 8pm.
