A woman living on Catawba Avenue told police last week someone had used her credit cards without her permission to charge $3,300 worth of purchases. Meanwhile, a Davidson police officer on the overnight shift struck a deer on N.C. 115 north of town early Tuesday.

And police responded to reports of attempted break-ins in the McConnell neighborhood at a veterinary office on Griffith Street. After passing final inspections this week, Our Town Cinemas said Thursday it will open on Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25, for showings of its first 4 films: “Invictus,” “Sherlock Holmes,” “It’s Complicated” and Disney’s “The Princess & The Frog.” The box office will open at 3 p.m. Christmas day, selling tickets for Friday through Dec. 31.
