“Hey, what is the deal with all of the little green worms falling from above?” Davidson resident Sara Rubens asks.
They’re canker worms, and depending on whom you ask they’re either cute pets, or awful pests. The eggs hatch and worms begin dangling every year as the foliage begins to appear, which this year seems to be a bit earlier than usual.

Davidson College’s Environmental Action Coalition will present “Greenstock,” an environmental festival on Saturday, March 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., outside Davidson College Alvarez College Union.
The festival will include music by Davidson students, food from the Healthy Home Market and Davidson College’s Food Cart, break out sessions with experts in different environmental areas, plus games and activities. Read the full story

Film about the life of conservationist Aldo Leopold will be shown free at Davidson CollegeOn Friday, March 23, at 7 PM, the Biology Department of Davidson College and the Davidson Lands Conservancy will host a free screening of a new film called “Green Fire,” the first full-length, high definition documentary film ever made about legendary conservationist Aldo Leopold. The film explores Aldo Leopold’s life in the early part of the 20th century and the many ways his ideas about “land ethics” are applied all over the world today. Read the full story
