A driver lost control of his minivan at the East Rocky River/Concord Road roundabout around 5:30 a.m. Sunday and slammed into a utility pole. The crash knocked cable lines down across the road, and forced the closing of Davidson-Concord Road in both directions. Read the full story

MI-Connection and the Virginia company that operates the communications system have agreed in principle to reconfigure their relationship through a new contract that eventually could give the towns of Davidson and Mooresville more oversight and control of the system they bought in 2007.

Time Warner Cable is boosting internet access speeds and raising its prices as it moves to satisfy users who want to download movies or watch TV online. The Charlotte Observer reports that the company has doubled upload speeds and significantly increased download speeds for existing customers in the greater Charlotte area.

Losses at the MI-Connection Communications System narrowed slightly in the first quarter of the 2010-11 fiscal year as expenses held steady and revenues inched upward. The company also lost fewer cable customers in the past three months and saw revenues rise amid continued sales of telephone and high-speed internet services – the most profitable parts of its business.
The loss of just a net 6 cable TV customers between June 30 and Sept. 30 came even as MI-Connection lost yet another multi-customer contract at an apartment complex, in Cornelius.
