Davidson and Charlotte-Mecklenburg police searched an area of east Davidson near N.C. 73 Wednesday night for a young man who called police and was threatening to hurt himself. The man was unarmed, but police were warning residents to be wary and not to respond to unexpected knocks at the door.

Davidson police are investigating an incident on Davidson-Concord Road near the Pages Pond neighborhood Monday afternoon in which two men attempted to break into a woman’s home while she was inside. The homeowner called 911 and watched as one suspect tried to break a glass door with a hammer before fleeing when an alarm sounded. Also over the past week, a North Main Street resident reported losing jewelry valued at $4,209, and a woman was charged after a hit-and-run crash on Davidson Gateway Drive. Police are investigating thefts from the GNC store on Jetton Street and River Run Country Club. Over the past week, Davidson firefighters assisted Cornelius emergency personnel with a furnace fire and investigated an odor of gas inside a River Run home. Units also responded to several calls on the Davidson College campus, including a stalled elevator in the Chambers Building, where they extricated two passengers stuck between floors. Police are investigating a variety of incidents this week, including one in which a woman reportedly made repeated harassing phone calls to a man over two days. Last Thursday on Davidosn-Concord Road (N.C. 73), a Davidson driver going 55 mph struck a deer. And a Cornelius woman’s unoccupied GMC rolled out of its parking space at The Brickhouse Tavern and struck a nearby unoccupied Pontiac. No injuries were reported, but the Pontiac had to be towed. Police obtained a search warrant and broke up a teen drinking party Saturday night in the River Run neighborhood. Alcoholic beverages were seized and a 17-year-old woman is now facing misdemeanor charges of aiding and abetting underage drinking, along with resisting, obstructing, and delaying. Four other partygoers also were cited for underage drinking and resisting, obstructing, and delaying. Elsewhere, five drivers were charged with DWI on local streets over the past two weeks, and a Davidson Pointe resident reported that someone shot a BB through a side window of the home. Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are investigating a man’s death Sunday at a home on East Rocky River Road. Few details were available Sunday afternoon, but police said there does not appear to be foul play.
