Commissioners also will vote on 2 affordable housing plans and a taxicab permit and consider a letter to NC DOT supporting high-occupancy toll-lanes on I-77.
Davidson’s Town Board will hold a public hearing and votes Tuesday night, Sept. 14, on proposals to give historic landmark status to two local properties: the modernist-style Purcell House at Hillside Drive and Lorimer Road, and the Jim Crow-era Falls Store at 300 Mock Road on the West Side. The board also will vote on affordable housing plans for the Davidson Bay and Walnut Grove developments, a permit for a taxi company, and consider endorsing the concept of high-occupancy toll lanes on I-77.
Also on the agenda, the board is expected to approve a permit for Mooresville-based Lake Norman Taxicab. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 216 S. Main St. Read the full story

Davidson Mayor John Woods and the five town commissioners are hosting a series of informal chats with citizens over the next two weeks to talk about town issues. It’s the first time Davidson officials have scheduled neighborhood meetings like these, which come as the town prepares to write a 2010-11 budget that could include significant cuts. The meetings also come as the towns of Davidson and Mooresville ponder how to deal with shortfalls at their jointly-owned MI-Connection communications system. Read the full story

Police have identified the driver who collided with another car at Concord and East Rocky River roads last Thursday as a 29-year-old Mooresville man. Also in this week’s blotter, reports of a dozen speeding citations on Griffith Street, five citations for running a stop sign on Jetton Street, and reports of auto break-ins near Exit 30 and in the Davidson Pointe neighborhood, across the Iredell County line.
