More than 120 citizens participated in the 5th annual Lake Norman Senior Fun and Fitness Day at Jetton Park Tuesday, enjoying health and fitness activities including Tai Chi classes, chair massages, blood pressure and spinal screenings, and games. Tuesday was Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in downtown Davidson, and the event had a nautical flair: Guest scoopers and volunteers included supporters of the N.C. Why are we afraid of snakes and other reptiles? It may be simply a lack of knowledge, says Davidson College biology professor Mike Dorcas. On Saturday, the college did its part to battle misinformation by hosting its annual Reptile Day, where students and other volunteers offered snakes, frogs and turtles and other critters for petting.
