A long line led into the courtyard of Davidson College’s Baker-Watt Science Complex Saturday afternoon as people waited for a chance to get up close with a collection of snakes, frogs, and salamanders at the annual Reptile Day. College students manned tables, where they explained the critters and offered visitors a chance to touch. Read the full story

Thirty-two Davidson residents wrapped up two months of training at Tuesday night’s Town Board meeting with a graduation ceremony for the latest Civics 101 citizens’ academy. The program is designed to boost civic involvement by helping residents learn how things work in town government.
Mayor John Woods handed out “Town of Davidson” pins to the graduates, who took either morning or evening classes. “We hope that we can further the knowledge of what makes Davidson Davidson,” the mayor said. “We are unique community.” Read the full story

The 2012 summer season of the Davidson Farmer’s Market opens this Saturday, April 7. Volunteers were setting up over the weekend for the season-opening market, which will bring more vendors, demonstrations by Chef Vera Samuels, music by Barrie Howard, a Growing Kids Club and more.
The market runs every Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon, through October next to Town Hall in downtown Davidson.
