What was all that commotion around Summit Coffee on Friday? A tent, plants, turf, pumpkins, beach chairs? Contractors for the N.C. Department are wrapping up this summer’s repaving project on N.C. 115 through town, including replacement of storm drain grates on the roadside. Workers have been out several nights this week, completing paving around the new grates. Story and photo on CorneliusNews.net.

Steelwork has begun rising on Mooney’s Corner, a four-story office building at 212 S. Main St. in downtown Davidson, next to Town Hall. This week, a crane has been lifting beams into place on the building, while workers bolt them together.

Developer Brad Remmey plans a $2.7 million, 4-story building on the site, which would become the new home of J.J. Wade and Associates. Wade is currently in a historic building next door. Read the full story

Sunday’s Concert on the Green was rained out, but that didn’t keep this group of River Run and Davidson neighbors from their usual third Sunday concert potluck. Pictured here on green No. 2 at River Run Country Club are the Farmers, Heatons, Moons, Natuschs, Naylors, Sherrills and Vendleys.

They report that the music was mix of jazz and indie. “We heard that our usual concert tent neighbors, Bob and Charlotte Miller, had a similar feast at their house.  Just try to rain on our concert,” said Cindy Farmer, who sent this photo.

That Davidson Farmer’s Market mural is emerging from the bricks on the south side of Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main St., in downtown Davidson. Artist Dave Merck is out there most days working on the market-themed wall painting, which will show a bicycle in front of a farmer’s market tent surrounded by produce, flowers and musical instruments. He’ll be out there again during Saturday’s market, from 8 a.m. to noon. Read the full story
