Commuters leaving the Davidson Pointe neighborhood north of Davidson on Tuesday morning were surprised to see flashing lights, police cars and police officers in an open field off Bridges Farm Road. Iredell County sheriff’s deputies and Davidson police were searching for a suspect who had fled on foot into an overgrown field and woods off  NC 115.

The cold and wet weather made for a difficult commute Friday morning in the Lake Norman area.  Windshields froze (including ours – we had to pull off the road at one point). Schools announced early closings. Hope your commute was safe.

Lauren Verlander of Davidson came across an unexpected site Wednesday outside the Target at Northcross shopping center, off Sam Furr Road in Huntersville: “There's a boat in the parking lot,” she said in a Tweet, with a photo attached.

The incident happened about 1:45pm at the shopping center, off I-77 Exit 25.

Huntersville fire department reported later that the boat slid off its trailer when the truck driver braked suddenly for another car in front of him. Here's the Huntersville Fire report: Read the full story

Davidson beat The Citadel 70-38 on Thursday night at Belk Arena, getting 15 points from De’Mon Brooks and 12 points from Jake Cohen. The victory improved the Wildcats’ record to 10-7 overall, 5-1 in the Southern Conference. On Saturday, they face College of Charleston in the 5th annual Kicks from Cats game at Belk Arena. The fog was thick and the temperature hardly frigid as a record 660 riders pedaled away from the start of Saturday's 15th annual Polar Bear Metric Century (100k) and Half Century (50k) rides through the North Mecklenburg/Lake Norman area.

Riders met and finished at Ingersoll-Rand headquarters on Beaty Street in Davidson. The morning started out grey and wet, but temperatures rose into the 70s, and sun poked through by the finish. Read the full story
