One of Charlotte’s top chefs and two business partners on Wednesday announced plans for a signature restaurant in the new Stowe’s Corner building downtown, to be called The Flatiron Kitchen + Tap House.
Tim Groody, the former executive chef at Sonoma and chef/owner of Pie Town, is joining forces with food industry veterans Michael LaVecchia and Chad Hollingsworth to develop the new eatery, which they say could be open by summer. Read the full story

Davidson Farmer’s Market hosts another pre-holiday market this Saturday, Dec. 19, 9 a.m. to noon, off Main Street in the area next to Town Hall. The farmers and vendors will have seasonal produce – including carrots, greens sweet potatoes and winter squash, as well as dairy, meats, and baked goods for your holiday feast.
The market will be open, regardless of the weather. “Yes we’ll be there come rain, sleet or snow. This is a group of farmers, after all,” the market said in an email to customers.

The Davidson Farmer’s Market will be open this Saturday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon, offering a variety of meats, cheeses, baked goods and seasonal produce, including arugula, beets, carrots, lettuces, sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, turnips and winter squash. The market will also be open on Saturday, Dec. 19, for pre-holiday shopping, from 9 am– noon. Read the full story
