Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools planned to dismiss students 2 hours early on Friday because of the “wintry mix” predicted in the afternoon. Several other schools and school districts in the Lake Norman area also planned to close early.
The Lake Norman Chamber calendar this week has a couple of big events. The town's long, reluctant farewell to retiring police Sgt. Scott Misenheimer will wrap up this weekend with a community reception Sunday afternoon at the Ada Jenkins Center. Residents will gather to share stories and wish the longtime officer farewell as he retires after 30 years as a police officer, and 24 in Davidson.
