Over the next five weeks they’ll be participating in Heifer International’s Read to Feed program. The more books the students read, the more money they will raise to provide hungry families with farm animals.

Election 2007 gears up this week with the first local candidate forum, on Thursday night. A fast organized by Muslim students on Wednesday will help raise money to fight hunger. And events on Friday (at Davidson United Methodist Church) and Saturday (The Ride for Hope & Housing) will raise money for affordable housing. Meanwhile, Davidson College’s Asian Cultural Awareness Association is sponsoring a series of events this week to promote awareness about Asian Culture. They include lectures, films and food. St. Alban’s Episcopal Church has had much to celebrate lately. First the arrival of a new rector, then the debut of a new weekly Saturday evening Celtic service. Sunday the congregation marked 50 years in Davidson. Next week the celebrations will conclude, at least for now, with the official welcoming of the Rev. David Buck and his new associate, the Rev.
