Leland Park, the former Davidson College library director, will give a lecture Sunday on the history of the college’s Phi and Eu halls, two of the oldest buildings on campus which are on the National Register of Historic Places.
The talk will be at 4 p.m. at Phi Hall, 216 N. Main St. It’s sponsored by the Davidson Historical Society. Read the full story

CONCORD – The Cornelius-based anti-bullying group Foundation for Respect Ability hosted a private preview Thursday night of the movie “Bully” that was followed by a panel discussion. The event drew applause and tears, but was not a sob story, it was a call to action. The recent death of Davidson resident and W.A. Hough High School student Jocelyn Albright Desmond has given many of us cause to reflect – about teenage life, cyber bullying and suicide. Her loss is still a painful wound for both family and friends. Today her parents, Alan and Jaletta Desmond, are sharing their thoughts and feelings in a pair of letters published below.
Jocelyn, 17, died March 15. She was a Hough High junior, active in her church and at school, where she loved track and singing. But there were things the Desmonds did not know about their daughter until after her death. They reflected on both her life and death in letters read by friends at a March 17 funeral service, within a few days of her passing. Read the full story

Cornelius police on Thursday charged two Charlotte men with murder in the Wednesday night shooting death of a Davidson man at a house near the Food Lion in Cornelius.
