CHARLOTTE – More than 2,000 protesters showed up for Moral Monday in Marshall Park Monday night. They held signs in support of abortion rights and protest of education and health care cutbacks.
And some were there in support of legalization of marijuana and abolishing prisons. But if there was one central theme to Monday night's rally, it was the sweeping changes to voting law by Governor Pat McCrory that had the crowd riled up. Read the full story

Organizers of the proposed Davidson Green School are continuing to seek approvals they need to open in September at 511 S. Main St. in Davidson, and they recently began renovations to transform the single-family house there into a school. Even as they do, residents of the nearby Twin Oaks neighborhood are fighting to stop the project, which they say will bring traffic and affect their quality of life.
One neighbor has even hired a lawyer and filed an appeal of the the town's July approval of the school's site plan. That appeal will be heard by the Davidson Board of Adjustment, though no date has been set yet for the meeting. Read the full story

Davidson commissioners on Tuesday adopted the town's first food-truck ordinance in a 4-0 vote that came after the board dropped restrictions on how close to existing restaurants the trucks can park. The board also voted to annex several lots in the River Run neighborhood at the request of the developer, and confirmed the town's membership in a newly expanded regional transportation planning organization that will include Iredell County.
