CONCORD – Local officials and executives from London-based Merlin Entertainments Group broke ground at Concord Mills on Wednesday for the planned $10 million Sea Life Charlotte-Concord. The 36,000 square foot aquarium is expected to open in Spring 2014, with about 5,000 marine creatures on display. Sea Life will be Merlin’s sixth aquarium around the U.S. Read the full story

As the daughter of a Gettysburg College professor, Laura Rosenbach spent much of her youth knowing that she would one day go into teaching. With the start of this school year, the lifelong educator – and student – became principal at W.A. Hough High School, a school she says is both larger and more diverse than when it opened in 2010.
She replaced Terri Cockerham, who was promoted to chief human resources officer at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Read the full story
