Meredith Legg Stapleton
Meredith Elise Legg Stapleton, 26, of Huntersville, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, five years after being diagnosed with melanoma. Born in Raleigh and raised in West Virginia, she was a star athlete in high school and college, and later a coach, who went on to become a financial analyst. After her diagnosis, she made education about melanoma her cause. Services will be Thursday in Aiken, SC, with a visitation Friday in Huntersville and graveside service Saturday. CHARLOTTE – The United Way of Central Carolinas announced Friday that it topped its 2013-14 campaign goal, raising $21.5 million from more than 55,000 donors. The organization said it was the third year in a row to surpass its target.
The campaign raised $21,544,686, which was $106,686 more than the $21,438,000 goal. Read the full story
