The installation of that “Homeless Jesus” sculpture in front of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davidson recently attracted the attention of National Public Radio reporter John Burnett, who happened to be in town for a lecture at Davidson College.
Burnett interviewed the Rev. David Buck of St. Alban’s as well as the creator of “Homeless Jesus,” Canadian sculptor Timothy Schmalz. He also went to the neighborhood in search of neighbors who had given the sculpture negative reviews, but they did not want to be interviewed for his story. So he talked to DavidsonNews.net editor David Boraks.
Burnett’s audio postcard aired during Weekend Edition on Sunday, April 13, 2014, and was the lead story on NPR.org.
