Davidson Housing Coalition’s 13th annual Holidays for Hope & Housing fundraiser is scheduled this Saturday, Dec. 14, when residents throughout Davidson will line streets and sidewalks with luminaria to benefit affordable housing programs in town.
The holiday event began years ago in the McConnell neighborhood as a way for the community to celebrate the holidays while helping a good cause. The warm glow on a wintry December night caught the attention, and affection, of the St. Alban’s community who quickly joined in the festivities.
In 2012, interest in Holidays for Hope & Housing grew, prompting Davidson Housing Coalition to expand the event throughout town, creating more than 8,000 luminaria and raising more than $24,000 for the organization’s programs and services. More than 730 Davidson families participated.
In exchange for donations, participating residents will get eight sets of luminaria – sand-filled paper bags and candles. For more information, please visit www.davidsonhousing.org.
The event is sponsored by Metrolina Greenhouses, with support from a long list of other sponsors.
