Davidson’s Town Board meets Tuesday, Nov. 12, with an agenda that includes a possible votes the proposed 5-year plan for major capital projects and the Davidson Walks and Rolls Active Transportation Plan. The board also is expected to vote to designate two homes in the old part of town as historic landmarks, and to begin the voluntary annexation process for the site of the $36 million Carolinas HealthCare System behavioral health hospital, off NC 73 east of town.
Meanwhile, town officials also will consider expanding the Planning and Livability Boards “to accommodate growing community population and increased citizen interest in community service.” And the board will fund a study of flashing beacons at Davidson-Concord Road and Robert Walker Drive, the scene of a serious pedestrian accident earlier this year.

(a) Designation of Historic Landmarks (tax parcel 00702305 and 00326203) – the properties are “Mabonsie,” a log home at 312 Thompson St. built as a retreat for Bonnie and Johnsie Shelton in 1934; and the Violet Currie House at 525 N. Main St. Both houses would become eligible for reduced taxes.

(e) Approve 2 Budget Amendments – The board will add money to this year’s budget for a study and design of flashing beacons at Robert Walker Drive and Davidson-Concord Rd as requested by the Board at Oct. 8 regular meeting. A second amendment would appropriate funding from FY 12-13 out of fund balance for Ada Jenkins bathroom renovations for ADA compliance and Parks & Recreation master plan. These projects were not put under contract until FY 13-14.
