HUNTERSVILLE – Employees began stocking the shelves this week at the newly completed Walmart store off NC 115 across from North Mecklenburg High School. The company is aiming for a mid-July opening.
The 150,000-square-foot store is on 37 acres at 11145 Bryton Town Center Drive, off I-485 in Huntersville. Like other Walmart stores, it will have general merchandise and groceries.
A spokeswoman said hiring is nearly complete for the 300 positions. Lori Tackitt has been named manager.
“With major construction complete, we are headed into the home stretch for our grand opening,” Tackitt said in a media advisory.
The Walmart is the first in Huntersville and the first building to be completed in Bryton, a 450-acre mixed-use development that has been on the drawing board for years. The Walmart plan was approved by Huntersville commissioners in 2011.
