Authorities closed North Main Street between Depot and Griffith Streets Monday morning after a minor two-vehicle wreck in front of the Davidson College Bookstore.
The wreck happened shortly after 7am, when a minivan and a pickup collided. One of the vehicles apparently struck a guy wire on utility pole on the east side of the street, and that pulled wires connected to another pole on the west side of Main Street, at Depot Street, across from the bookstore. That left the pole leaning and wires and a traffic light sagging.
Davidson firefighters and police were on the scene. Officials said there were no injuries.
Northbound traffic was been detoured off Main Street, down Depot Street, then over Jackson Street to Griffith Street. Southbound traffic on North Main Street had to detour on Jackson Street, then back to South Main Street near Town Hall.
