Santa Claus climbed onto the old Davidson Engine No. 2, the siren sounded, and Thursday just before 6pm they headed to the Village Green to kick off the 25th annual Christmas in Davidson. Thousands of people from Davidson, surrounding towns, Charlotte and beyond strolled along Main and South Main streets taking in the sights and sounds of the season.

Christmas in Davidson continues Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9, with carriage rides, vendors and entertainment on the Village Green, skating at South Main Square and Santa holding court at the public library.
Friday night’s events include an amazing variety of music worthy of a music crawl [3], an open house at the WDAV-FM radio studios [4] on North Main Street, and the Doggie Fashion Show [5]on the Village Green.
Still to come Saturday is the North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade at 1pm, and more fun at Christmas in Davidson downtown, including Saturday night’s Ugly Sweater Contest [6].

Also, don’t forget to vote for your favorite tree [8] and help out local nonprofits in the Davidson Rotary’s annual tree decorating contest at the north end of the Village Green. You also can vote in the Gingerbread House contest [6] at the Copeland House, on North Main. They’ve got houses in a variety of youth and adult categories.
