Thieves target vending machines, laundry; more crashes with deer

Davidson police responded to at least three vending-machine break-ins over the past two weeks – two at the Bexley of Davidson Apartments and one in the laundry room at Oak Hill Apartments, off Beaty Street. Two drivers escaped injury in collisions with deer. Also recently, three people stole $360 worth of clothing from Monkee’s on Jetton Street and a resident of Central Park Circle reported than someone fraudulently used her credit card. FRIDAY, NOV. 9, 455 Davidson Gateway Drive, Bexley of Davidson Apartments – Police are investigating a case of vandalism and larceny in which an unknown suspect broke into a Coca-Cola vending machine and stole money. Total damage to the vending machine was estimated at $500.
MONDAY, NOV. 12, 5:37 p.m., Shearer Road at Maple Way Drive – A Mooresville woman driving a 2005 Acura struck a deer that walked onto the roadway. The deer fled into the woods after being struck. Total damage to the vehicle was estimated at $975, but the driver was not injured.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 14, 9:27 p.m., Central Park Circle – Police are investigating a case of fraud in which an unknown suspect used the victim’s credit card to purchase $348.65 worth of goods without her consent.
THURSDAY, NOV. 15, 10:44 a.m., 624 Jetton Street, Monkee’s – Police are investigating a case of larceny in which three unknown suspects entered the clothing store on Nov. 13 and stole numerous items worth a combined $360.
THURSDAY, NOV. 15, 12:44 p.m., 130 Harbour Place Drive, commercial parking area – A Claremont man driving a 2007 Ford scraped a parked 2000 Mercedes-Benz while backing out of a parking space. Total combined damage to the vehicles was estimated at $350.
THURSDAY, NOV. 15, 1:37 p.m., 300 block of Jetton Street – Police are investigating a case of larceny in which an unknown suspect stole two of her children’s scooters.
FRIDAY, NOV. 16, 12:08 p.m., Griffith Street at I-77, northbound off ramp – A Belmont woman driving a 2007 Acura rear-ended a Davidson woman’s 2012 Toyota at approximately 3 mph. No damage to either vehicle was noted, but the driver of the Toyta did ask her husband to take her to the hospital for head and neck pain after refusing to be treated by a responding Medic ambulance.
SUNDAY, NOV. 18, 4:49 p.m., 18500 block of Carnegie Overlook Boulevard – Police responded to a domestic disturbance to inspect damage that had been inflicted upon the victim’s house and car. A Ford Taurus sustained $500 in damage while the house sustained $750.
MONDAY, NOV. 19, 10:37 p.m., 15300 block of East Rock Court – Police investigated a domestic disturbance and learned that the victim has been receiving approximately 20 text messages per day since Oct. 29 from a known suspect. The victim told police that she has asked the suspect to stop contacting her, but that the suspect continues to do so using offensive and derogatory language.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 21, 800 block of Beaty Street – Police responded to a report of a domestic assault and found that the suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
SATURDAY, NOV. 24, 1:46 a.m., Watson Street at Delburg Street – A deer ran out onto the roadway and struck the left front bumper of a Davidson man’s 2008 GMC, causing approximately $800 in damage to the vehicle.
SATURDAY, NOV. 24, 10:24 a.m., 455 Davidson Gateway Drive, Bexley of Davidson Apartments – An unknown suspect once again broke into a Coca-Cola vending machine at an apartment complex and stole money from inside.
SATURDAY, NOV. 24, 1:45 p.m., 831 Beaty Street, Oak Hill Apartments – Police are investigating a case of breaking and entering in which an unknown suspect forcibly entered the front door of the apartment complex’s laundry center and broke into two washing machines and two vending machines, stealing money from inside. Total damage to the facility and the appliances was estimated at $2,000.
