A 27-year-old Davidson driver is facing several charges, but was not seriously hurt early Wednesday when she lost control of her car and struck another car and a house in the McConnell neighborhood.
The incident happened around 1:15 a.m. at North Downing Street and Lingle Drive, just off Concord Road.
According to an accident report, the woman was headed north on North Downing Street in her 2004 Jeep when she struck a parked 2008 Toyota. She continued north out of control and through the front yard at 105 N. Downing St., damaging the lawn, a mailbox and Halloween decorations. The car then crossed over Lingle Drive, over-corrected, and then began heading south. It veered back into the back yard of 105 N. Downing, through a fence, went over a retaining wall and struck the house at 107 Lingle Drive.
Police said the driver was attempting to leave the scene when they arrived. On Wednesday afternoon, police reported that she had been charged with driving while intoxicated, careless and reckless driving and possession of an open container in the car.
Damage to the Toyota was estimated at $7,000, and the homeowner at 105 N. Downing said additional damage there totaled $2,000. Damage to the Lingle Drive home was estimated at $5,000.
The Jeep had to be towed from the scene and had an estimated $12,000 damage.
