The Salvation Army’s Boys & Girls Club of Davidson will hold a Fall Festival and Open House on Saturday at its new location, at Davidson Presbyterian Church, and the event comes with a deal for prospective families: a free 30-day membership.
Center director Johnnie Peterson and Davidson Presbyterian Church leaders hope the event will help boost enrollment in the after-school program.
The Boys & Girls Club of Davidson moved to the church this school year from its former home at the Ada Jenkins Center on Gamble Street. That move came after the club’s lease ended at the center. Ada Jenkins Center has taken over the extra space for an expansion of its own Learn Works after school program.
Saturday’s open house will include free hot dogs and chips, and information about the Boys’ & Girls’ Club programs.
Officials have said the Davidson club has an average daily attendance of about 20 kids, with about 50 annual members. It is open afternoons.
The Davidson Presbyterian Church is at 116 Depot St., a block from Main Street. For more information, call 704-895-6686 or email Mr. Peterson, johnnie.Peterson@uss.salvationarmy.org
