Volunteers from area churches will wash feet and fit children and youth for new shoes this Saturday, Aug. 11, at Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson. The nonprofit Samaritan’s Feet has organized the event for kids from birth to age 18. It runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson.
Shoes will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis, while sizes last. No pre-registration is required.
Founded in 2003, the nonprofit Samaritan’s Feet has a goal of giving away 10 million pairs of shoes to impoverished children in the United States and abroad.
Volunteers at the event will be from Davidson College Presbyterian Church, Davidson United Methodist Church, St. Alban’s Episcopal Church and Lake Forest Church. Approximately 500 children will get new athletic shoes and socks and have their feet washed by volunteers.
