The college has closed the former campus store in Alvarez College Union, on campus. In a message to employees last week, the college said it hopes to open the new store on Monday, Aug. 13.
Cats on Main, the college’s Davidson Wildcats logo clothing and spirit shop, will remain open until the new store opens, the college says.
Davidson College bought the building in December 2010 for $1.25 million.

Here’s an update on an issue that has been hanging for some time: Whether the college will pay property taxes on the new campus store building.
Mayor John Woods said Tuesday night in response to a question at the Town Board chat that the college will be paying taxes on the building, because it’s a commercial use.
As a non-profit, the college does not have to pay taxes on most of its property, which is for educational uses.
According to Mecklenburg County records, the college paid $15,504.82 in taxes in February.
