Davidson’s Town Board has called a special meeting Tuesday night where commissioners will reopen their discussion and revisit last week’s vote to seek a referendum on four-year, staggered terms for the mayor and board.
Commissioners had voted last week to call a public hearing and start a process leading to a November referendum on a proposal to lengthen board members’ terms from the current 2 years to 4 years, and to stagger their terms.
At that meeting, commissioners said they still needed to decide whether the votes for the mayor’s term and the commissioners’ terms would be separate, and also how they will determine who gets the first 4-year terms.
Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at Davidson Town Hall, 216 S. Main St. It will be followed at 6 p.m. by an informal commissioner chat at Davidson Day School, 750 Jetton St.
Here’s the town announcement:
