A community meeting to discuss Carolinas HealthCare System’s plans for a behavioral health hospital on N.C. in Davidson is scheduled Thursday, July 12, 6:30-8 p.m., at Davidson United Methodist Church chapel in downtown Davidson.
The meeting will include presentations by Carolinas HealthCare System, the town of Davidson, behaviorial health advocates and Due Process Davidson, a citizens group opposed to the hospital.
CHS expects to show a site plan and architectural drawings for the planned 66-bed, $36 million hospital. And officials will be available to answer questions.
Carolinas HealthCare is buying 23 acres at the former Davidson East development site, on NC 73 east of Ramah Church Road. It hopes to open the new hospital in late 2013.
Officials said last week they’ve received state approval to shift the location of the planned hospital to Davidson from a previously approved site in Huntersville. Huntersville’s town board rejected that plan in March.
Davidson United Methodist Church Chapel is at 304 S. Main St. Parking will be available in the main church lot at 233 S. Main St.
