The Town of Davidson will celebrate Independence Day a few days early this year, with the annual downtown parade and a Concert on the Green Sunday, July 1, with Shaggie Maggie. We’re all invited to join in, with our patriotically decorated wagons, bicycles, and even pets.
This year’s parade will include a color guard and the town’s vintage fire engine. Line up for the parade at McEver Fields on South Street at 5:15 p.m. Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m.
A police cruiser and color guard will lead the parade up South Street to Main Street and the Village Green, where all participants will get a free patriotic popsicle on the brick patio in front of the library.
“This is a great way for our entire community to come together and show our Davidson spirit,” town spokeswoman Cristina Shaul said in a press release.
The Concert on the Green begins at 6 p.m., with Shaggie Maggie, which plays beach, rhythm and blues and boogie. Members include lead vocalist Pam Russell, bassist Doug Dennis, guitarist Bob Sykes, drummer Roy Brown and vocalist/keyboardist James Kipple.
