The state Department of Transportation will begin repair work this week on 15 bridges over I-77 in the Charlotte area, including four in Huntersville. The night-time work is expected to continue through the end of August.
HRI Bridge Co. of State College, Pa., has been hired to do the work under a $5 million contract approved in April. The project is part of a $430 million bridge preservation program this year, which is repairing 450 bridges statewide.
These bridges are being repaired along I-77:
- Nations Ford Road;
- N.C. 49 (South Tryon Street);
- Clanton Road;
- Remount Road;
- Fifth Street;
- Cindy Lane;
- Sunset Road;
- N.C. 24 (Harris Boulevard);
- Mount Holly-Huntersville Road;
- Gilead Road;
- Stumptown Road; and
- Sam Furr Road over I-77 North and South.
The work includes one bridge on I-277: the Inner and Outer Loop of John Belk Freeway over I-77.
