A driver lost control of her car on Concord Road Thursday morning, running off the road, through a fence and into a stand of pines. The driver did not appear to be seriously injured, and was able to walk to an ambulance on her own.
Police said the driver was headed east on Concord Road toward the roundabout at East Rocky River Road just after 8 a.m. when she apparently had a seizure or other health issue.
Davidson police officer Paul Lowry was driving west on Concord Road at the same time, and witnessed the wreck. He said he noticed the driver slumped at the wheel of her dark gray Subaru, when it veered across the bike path, through the fence and into the pine trees on the Barger Farm.
Officer Lowry called for assistance, and Davidson fire units and Medic responded within minutes. The driver was able to walk to the ambulance on her own. She was transported to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center for observation.
