A Charlotte woman was surprised to learn last week that she had backed into a Davidson Elementary School employee after dropping children off at the school. Police investigated after a complaint from the school. Police also are investigating two auto break-ins where thieves stole owner’s manuals and loose change. In one incident on Magnolia Street, someone took two plastic containers of gasoline from the victim’s yard as well. Other items on the blotter this week include theft of a game system and laptop computer from a Central Park Circle home, and a Jetton Street woman’s report of credit card fraud. WEDNESDAY, MAY 9, 1:46 p.m., 300 block of Magnolia Street – Police are investigating a case of theft in which an unknown suspect stole $5.00 in change and the owner’s manual from inside of a resident’s vehicle after breaking into it.
FRIDAY, MAY 11, 4:43 p.m., 100 block of Lavender Bloom Loop – Police received a report of a missing 27-year-old man and a 2000 Toyota Camry.
FRIDAY, MAY 11, 3:23 p.m., 900 block of Jetton Street – Police are investigating a case of identity theft and credit card fraud after an unknown suspect used a 46-year-old female victim’s Social Security number, name, and birthday to change information on a credit card and to use that card to make fraudulent purchases.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 16, 8:10 a.m., 635 South Street, Davidson Elementary School – A Charlotte woman driving a 2004 Honda backed into a school employee who was walking across the parking lot on her way to work. The school employee was not injured, and the driver drove away from the scene without realizing that the incident had occurred. Police contacted the driver, who asked to have the pedestrian call her.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 16, 6:38 p.m., Davidson-Concord Road at Summers Walk Boulevard – A Charlotte woman driving a 2004 Ford for the Royal Cab Company rear-ended a Kannapolis woman’s 2002 Kia that was stopped for traffic. The Ford struck the Kia at approximately 30 mph, sending the Kia into a Concord man’s 2010 Toyota. The Concord man told police that he felt a pain in his neck after the incident, but everyone involved denied medical attention. Total combined damage to the vehicles was estimated at $1,200, and all of the vehicles were able to be driven away from the scene.
FRIDAY, MAY 18, 7:58 a.m., Griffith Street at Jetton Street – A Huntersville woman driving a 2012 Chevrolet moved into the inside lane of a traffic circle, striking the passenger side of a Charlotte woman’s 2008 Toyota as both vehicles navigated the loop. Total combined damage was estimated at $150.
SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2:05 a.m., 900 block of Central Park Circle – Police are investigating a case of breaking and entering in which a Nintendo Wii and a laptop valued at $600 were stolen from inside a residence.
MONDAY, MAY 21, 7:56 a.m., 500 block of Pine Road – A family member stopped by the police station to report that a 16-year-old male family member was missing.
MONDAY, MAY 21, 5:07 p.m., 300 block of Northwest Drive – Police received a fax from the Department of Social Services referencing a case of child abuse against a 12-year-old female that occurred at the address listed. The fax listed the type of abuse as simple assault via “threatened physical injury.”
TUESDAY, MAY 22, 12:15 p.m., 20600 block of Shearer Road – Police are investigating a vehicle break-in in which an unknown suspect stole the owner’s manual and registration card from within a Toyota Avalon, as well as two plastic containers full of gasoline from the victim’s yard.
