A pair of wrecks on I-77 northbound on either side of Exit 30 was slowing traffic around midday Thursday. Neither accident appeared serious.
The first happened around 11:15 a.m., just north of Exit 30. It appeared to involve a single vehicle that wound up sideways in the left lane. Other motorists were stopped to help.
About 30 minutes later, as traffic was backed up, a second call came in to emergency units about an accident in the median around Mile Marker 29.
The NC Department of Transportation said in an alert that traffic could be slow until around 1 p.m.
No further information was available.
