Police are investigating two cases of vandalism over the past week, including one incident in which three parked vehicles were damaged in front of a house on Watson Street. $1,200 in jewelry was stolen from a residence on South Main Street, and a 53-year-old male was cited for DWI and assaulting a female on Southwest Drive. WEDNESDAY, APR. 25, 11:09 a.m., 13000 block of Evening Primrose Drive, The Woodlands – Police are investigating a case of vandalism in which an unknown suspect damaged a mailbox valued at $500.
WEDNESDAY, APR. 25, 6:30 p.m., 400 block of South Main Street – Police are investigating a larceny in which a known suspect stole $1,200 in jewelry and $200 in cash from a residence. The jewelry was recovered.
THURSDAY, APR. 26, 9:19 p.m., 800 block of Southwest Drive – Officers responded to a report of an assault on a female. A 53-year-old male was cited for DWI and assaulting a 41-year-old female.
FRIDAY, APR. 27, 10:00 a.m., 500 block of Watson Street – Police are investigating a case of vandalism in which three parked vehicles were damaged in front of a residence by an unknown suspect. Total combined damage to the Ford Explorer, Volkswagen Jetta, and Volvo SW was estimated at $900.
FRIDAY, APR. 27, 3:16 p.m., NC 73 at Mayes Road – A Davidson man driving a 1983 Toyota west on NC 73 when he ran off of the right side of the road at approximately 45 mph and overcorrected. The driver swerved back to the right in order to avoid oncoming traffic before striking a private driveway, becoming airborne, and coming to rest in a ditch facing the opposite direction approximately 20 feet away. Firefighters and a Medic ambulance responded to the scene, but the driver refused transport to the hospital. Total damage to the vehicle (which had to be towed away from the scene) was estimated at $500.
FRIDAY, APR. 27, 5:07 p.m., Main Street at Chairman Blake Lane – A Kannapolis man driving a 2010 Chevrolet collided with a Cornelius woman’s 2006 Dodge at approximately 15 mph as the Cornelius woman turned into a parking space on Main Street. Total combined damage was estimated at $2,800, but both vehicles were able to be driven away from the scene.
SATURDAY, APR. 28, 7:30 a.m., Harbour Place Drive – A Davidson man driving a 2008 Honda turned too sharply while attempted to parallel park and struck a parked vehicle owned by the Town of Davidson at approximately 10 mph. The driver of the Honda was unable to locate the driver of the Town of Davidson vehicle, but left his information for the driver to contact him. Total combined damage to the vehicles was estimated at $5,300.

- DELBURG STREET – 1 citation for expired registration/inspection
- GRIFFITH STREET – 4 citations for speeding, 3 for possession of a controlled substance, 4 for possession of drug paraphernalia, and 1 for an open container of alcohol
- JETTON STREET – 2 citations for failing to stop at a stop sign
- MAIN STREET – 1 citation for expired registration
- NC-73 – 1 citation for driving while license revoked
- NORTHEAST DRIVE – 1 citation for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia
- PORTSIDE DRIVE – 1 arrest for DWI
- RIVER FORD DRIVE – 1 citation for no operator’s license and 1 for no insurance
- SOUTHWEST DRIVE – 1 citation for assaulting a female and 1 for DWI
