Here’s an introduction to an activity some folks in Davidson are getting hooked on: parkour. What is parkour? A sport, an art form?
Stephan Snyder of Davidson, a sophomore in the I.B. program at North Mecklenburg High School, says: “It’s the practice of moving efficiently from point A to point B using vaulting, climbing, and other techniques.”Started in France, parkour has spread across the world and is growing rapidly in popularity. A year ago, Stephan started a group called Davidson Parkour, and he and friends can sometimes be seen practicing their skills around town.
“Parkour teaches you to adapt to your environment and see the world as a playground,” he says in this video.
Davidson Parkour is an organized group and has about 20 members. Others in the video are Austin Bruckner, (Community School of Davidson) Matt Gregory, (Lake Norman High School) and Nick Faircloth.
