An accident with injuries blocked traffic on I-77 southbound near Exit 25 during rush hour Wednesday morning, at one point forcing authorities to close the road. Traffic was backed up as far north as Mooresville.

The left lane of two lanes was still blocked at 8:30 a.m., the North Carolina Department of Transportation reported. The DOT said the lane, around Mile Marker 26, could be closed through at least 9:25 a.m.

The DOT and local news sources reported several vehicles were involved an accident with injuries around 7:25 a.m.
