The young British classical vocal ensemble Stile Antico, in the midst of a nine-concert U.S. tour, will make a stop in Davidson Tuesday night, Dec. 13, for a concert at Davidson United Methodist Church. The group performs without a conductor and will be signing a concert of Tudor music for Christmas and Advent from their latest CD, “Puer natus est.”

Tuesday’s concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Davidson United Methodist Church, 233 S. Main St.

The group’s name (pronounced STEE-lay an-TEE-co) literally means “old style.” They sing a repertoire that ranges from English Tudor composers to Flemish and Spanish to early Baroque. Stile Antico‘s 2009 “Song of Songs” won the 2009 Grammy Award for Early Music and reached the top of the U.S. classical music chart.

Members of the group may be heard on the radio Monday at 11 a.m. on WDAV-FM, 89.9, in Davidson.
