Georgia Krueger, executive director of the Ada Jenkins Center, is battling a bad case of Lyme Disease and has taken a medical leave of absence through at least January. The board of the regional community services center has appointed operations director Tamara Roach as interim director.
Ms. Krueger has been director at Ada Jenkins since 2008. She also served 20 years as head of the Lake Norman YMCA.
She said the other day that her illness has made it difficult to drive and do her job. “I’m a doer,” she told DavidsonNews.net. Not being able to “do” has her feeling “lost.” She said she’s grateful for the leave of absence.
The Ada Jenkins Center, at 212 Gamble St., houses the Loaves and Fishes food pantry, the senior nutrition center, free dental and medical clinics, a parish nurse, Head Start, The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Davidson, Crisis Assistance Ministries, and Latino Services, among other things.
ANNOUNCEMENT
Here’s a note sent to friends and supporters on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011:
Good Afternoon All,
Many of you are aware, to some extent, that Georgia Krueger is battling Lyme disease. In order to concentrate on getting well, Georgia has taken a medical leave of absence until January 2012. She will not be accessing her e-mails/phone messages here at the Ada Jenkins Center, but she does encourage anyone who wants to, to visit her Caring Bridge site: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/georgiakrueger and leave her messages. It’s an easy site to use, you do have to set up a login and password, but if you sign up to receive her journal updates by e-mail, then you can just click the link to get into her site and not have to login each time. I’m sure she’d love to hear from you!!!
In the meantime, I have the privilege of filling her very large shoes (very, very large shoes), so if there is something you normally would contact Georgia about concerning Ada Jenkins, then until January, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you, Tamara
Make it a fantastic day!
Tamara Roach
Operations Director/Interim Executive Director
The Ada Jenkins Center
