Davidson Cornelius Child Development Center on Gamble Street is now accepting applications for a new pre-kindergarten Spanish immersion program to run August through next June.
The program will be offered weekdays 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Aug. 29 to June 1, 2012. Tuition is $580 per month. There is no part-time option available for this program.
The child care center says: “At DC CDC we believe that curriculum should be integrated with high-quality assessment, child centered, and family connections. The Creative Curriculum helps teachers plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program that promotes children’s social-emotional development and learning in the core areas of literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies.”
Along with the Creative Curriculum, the center also offers “enrichment” in areas that include Spanish (with bilingual teachers), music, storytelling/Davidson Library, and monthly field trips in the community. Additional services include hearing screening and speech screening and therapy (on-site).
Class sizes are limited to 15 students, with two teachers.
“DC CDC prides itself on our high quality, affordable care that allows children to experience a diverse environment coupled with our ability to offer developmentally appropriate activities that provide our students a solid foundation on which to build their future academic success,” said executive director Courtenay O’Neil. “I truly believe we are one of the best kept secrets in Davidson.”
The pre-K program will have two teachers in the classroom throughout the program day: A lead teacher with a four-year degree in early childhood education or similar field, and an assistant teacher with an associate’s degree or college course work.
Space is limited. To register, contact Courtenay O’Neil at 704-892-1228 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Interested parents also may stop by for scheduled tours Thursday, July 21, at 5 p.m., and Wednesday, July 27, at 8:30 a.m.
