Alliances, collaborations and partnerships among news organizations have become the answer to shrinking news room staffs and increasing demand for local news coverage. CorneliusNews.net and DavidsonNews.net are joining forces with Charlotte public radio station WFAE 90.7fm through a partnership to provide more news to their audiences.
“I’m really excited about this. This partnership will help WFAE improve its coverage of issues in the Lake Norman area. In turn, DavidsonNews.net and CorneliusNews.net, will get more ‘big picture’ stories from WFAE. It’s win-win for everyone,” said WFAE News Director Greg Collard.
Shared news stories will be credited online with logos. While the partnership is primarily web-based, there will be opportunities to use DavidsonNews.net and CorneliusNews.net stories on the air.
David Boraks is the founder of Davidson News LLC, which operates the Cornelius and Davidson sites. He is a longtime local journalist who already is a contributor and weekend substitute host for WFAE.
“Radio and the web are natural fit when it comes to delivering news at all levels, including locally,” Boraks said. “This partnership will allow our websites and WFAE to expand coverage and reach wider audiences.”
