Davidson College’s Environmental Action Coalition hosts its 7th annual Green Ball on Friday, Feb. 18, in a night of fun and fund-raising for the Davidson Lands Conservancy.
The dance runs from 7:30 to 11 p.m. in the Lilly Family Gallery of Chambers Hall, on the college campus. The ball features contra dancing and silent and chance auctions of works by local artists, movie ticket, restaurant gift cards and more.
Suns of the Full Moon provides the music for contra dancing. A contra dance is a social dance featuring live music and rotating dance lines, with many of the steps borrowed from square and line dancing. It is fast-paced, fun, and easy to learn.
Not a dancer? Not a problem. They’ll have brief contra dance lessons for beginners as well.
All proceeds will benefit the Davidson Lands Conservancy, a local non-profit land trust that works to protect natural, open space in the Town of Davidson.
Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for community members in advance, $12 at the door for everyone. Please contact Taylor Riley by email (tariley@davidson.edu) or phone (703-994-9443) for more information.
