"Our Vanishing Americana" poster

The Davidson-produced documentary film “Our Vanishing Americana – A North Carolina Portrait” is up for a regional Emmy Award this weekend. At ceremonies in Nashville Saturday night, producer Mike Lassiter and director Scott Galloway, both of Davidson, will find out how their film fared against other nominees in three categories.

“Our Vanishing Americana” is a true Davidson production. It’s based on Mr. Lassiter’s 2006 photography book of the same name and focuses on the state’s old hardware stores, groceries, gas stations, pharmacies, barber shops, eateries and other disappearing places. Mr. Galloway is a Davidson-based filmmaker. The film was edited by Greg Grzeszczak, with photography by Randy Fulp and musical contributions by Rusty Knox. (Other credits in the entry go to Susie Films and Charlotte public TV station WTVI.)

The 25h annual MidSouth Regional Emmy Awards are hosted by the Nashville/Midsouth Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). More than 700 entries were submitted in 72 categories. The film is nominated in three categories: Documentary/Cultural, Editing, and Photography.
