The snow put a damper on this week’s open houses at area YMCAs.  A one-day open house planned for Tuesday was extended through Friday. And now area YMCAs are planning another celebration on Tuesday, Jan. 18, as well as offering free trial memberships.

Lake Norman, Lincoln County, Lowe’s, and University City YMCAs all will be open all day Tuesday for  a “big bash,” according to spokeswoman Amanda Fowler. “The facility will be open to the community all day Tuesday and our staff will be on hand to play games with members and visitors, talk about how the Y functions within the community, give facility tours and lots more,” she said.

Visitors will be able to sign up for free two-week memberships that will allow them to use the facility, take group exercise classes and more.
