While most of us were sleeping early Tuesday, the earth was passing between the sun and the moon in what would have been quite a sight to see – if it weren’t for cloudy skies in and around Davidson. Dec. 21, 2010, WashingtonPost.com, “Lunar eclipse coincides with winter solstice.” - There are not many days like Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010. Take it from people who know: astronomers. There was maybe one day like this Tuesday in the past 2,000 years.-

This is a collage of five images of the December 21, 2010 lunar eclipse that I took from my backyard in Sarasota, Florida. This event will never take place again in our lifetimes.
