Mrs. Doris Ballard, known to most by “Nanny” passed away in her home in Davidson, NC at the age of 84 on Monday, Nov. 8.

Doris spent her life as a devoted homemaker to her husband, children and grandchildren. Doris was an avid gardener, artist, lover of nature and all things antique. Doris also enjoyed playing the piano in her spare time.

Doris was preceded in death by her devoted husband Ray Hardin Ballard,

Doris is survived by her Daughter, Martha Elizabeth Ballard of Davidson; son Wayne Hardin Ballard and wife Carol of Cornelius.

Grandchildren; Wendy Honeycutt of Cornelius, Stacey Ballard Turrentine and husband Ken of Huntersville, Stephen Honeycutt of Charlotte, and Clinton Ballard and wife Katherine of Cornelius.

Great Grandchildren; Lacy Price, Kendall Turrentine, Caroline Ballard, Charlie Turrentine and Cooper Ballard.

Great Great Grandchild: Alexis Robbins, making Mrs. Ballard the matriarch of 5 generations.

Family would like to extent their deepest thanks and gratitude to all the caregivers involved with Doris’s care.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday November, 10th at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Raymer Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Road, (exit 25 off I 77-Corner of Sam Furr Road & Hwy 115), Huntersville, N.C.

Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
